NOTICE
concerning End Semester Examinations (ESE) for
intermediate even semesters (BA/BSc 2nd & 4th and MSc 2nd) of 2020
and old courses (BSc 2nd, 4th & 6th and MSc 2nd)
In continuation of the Notice issued on 26 June 2020, and consequent upon the decision of the Local Academic Council vide Resolution to Agenda 1 dated 19 August 2020 (wherein, in view of the worsening COVID-19 pandemic, reference was drawn to UGC Guidelines dated 29 April 2020), the following are hereby notified:
1. There will be no further assessment/examination of students of intermediate even semesters (BA/BSc 2nd & 4th and MSc 2nd) in 2020.
2. For REGULARS - BA/BSc 2nd & 4th and MSc 2nd semesters
(A) A qualified student will be graded as follows:
For a theory paper: By taking 50% marks from his/her internal assessment in the paper and 50% marks from his/her performances in the parallel paper of the previous odd semester.
For a non-theory paper: By taking 50% marks from assessment made by the concerned teacher, and endorsed by the HOD, based on activities that could be carried out in the paper and 50% marks from his/her performances in the parallel paper of the previous odd semester.
This process will be referred to as End Semester Examinations (ESE), May 2020, for all purposes.
(B) Admit Cards and Mark Sheets will be issued. Applicable fees will be collected.
(C) This will not be counted as an appearance in any paper.
(D) There will be no provision for revaluation or review of marks.
(E) Standing rules for improvement of performance will apply for theory papers. That is, one chance for improvement of performance in theory papers will be allowed in the immediate next ESE for even semesters
(F) Additionally, one chance for improvement of performance in practical papers will be allowed in the immediate next ESE for even semesters.
3. For REPEATERS - BA/BSc 2nd & 4th semesters
(A) Students who had been intending to appear as repeaters in these semesters will have to do so in the next examinations held for even semesters. The year will not be counted to the maximum period of eligibility for clearing a paper. This applies to repetition for both arrear and improvement.
(B) Students who have signed undertakings to clear papers in ESE May 2020 will be given the chance in the next examinations held for even semesters.
4. For old course REPEATERS - BSc 2nd, 4th & 6th and MSc 2nd semesters
(A) Students who had been intending to appear as repeaters in old course papers will have to do so in the next examinations held for even semesters. The year will not be counted to the maximum period of eligibility for clearing a paper.
(B) The above 4 (A) supersedes any earlier notice which may have notified ESE May 2020 as the last chance for certain categories of students.
These provisions are for the current academic session only.
The Examination Committee of the College remains the sole and final authority on interpretation and implementation of the rules and regulations governing conduct of examinations.
